Blood Pressure Holter

Nowadays high blood pressure is a contemporary plague. The sedentary lifestyle we have adopted, stress, a diet rich in fat and salt as well as childhood obesity are partly responsible for its dramatic increase even among younger individuals.

A chronic uncontrolled Hypertension can lead to heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, peripheral arterial disease etc.

What the ambulatory Holter pressure offers is a 24 hour recording of the blood pressure of the examined individual –even during sleep- so that the doctor can have a clear picture. Consequently it enables the doctor to not only administer the correct medication but also determine the right dosage and timing.

The recording of the blood pressure is achieved by a special device which is put in the belt of the individual. The device is attached to an arm-band in the left arm. Depending on our programming, the measuring of the blood pressure takes place every 15 or 20 minutes during the day and a bit more rarely during the night. The device records systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as the heart rate. The findings are then analyzed by special software which gives us valuable information on the fluctuation of the blood pressure.

Our lab has one of the most advanced GE Medical systems recorders, TONOPORT, with CARDIOSOFT analysis software.
